Dr. Willie B. O’Neal, pastor of Mt. Canaan Full Gospel, passes away
Mt. Canaan Full Gospel Church has announced the passing of its pastor, Dr. Willie B. O’Neal on Friday, July 18.
In 1977, Rev. Willie B. O’Neal was selected as Mt. Canaan’s next pastor. The congregation consisted of approximately 12 faithful members who conducted services two Sundays a month. His ministry, rooted in Full Gospel Pentecostal tradition, emphasized spiritual growth, biblical teaching, and community service.
Dr. O’Neal led with boldness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the Word of God. He was known as a pastor to the people, a counselor to the hurting, and a father to the fatherless. Mt. Canaan expanded its outreach and became “a cornerstone of faith and leadership in Birmingham.”

Dr. O’Neal’s impact extended beyond the church walls. He helped train ministers and supported churches throughout the Southeast. His legacy includes his congregation, a ministerial fellowship, and a model for servant leadership.
