Birmingham group ‘DFC’ preps for Swiss tour, send-off event planned for Dec. 1
The Birmingham gospel group Dr. Prince Yelder & Disciples of Christ is planning to tour Switzerland in December. The trip is a part of Switzerland’s Annual Voices of Gospel Fest at concert venues across the country. The event has featured gospel artists as VaShawn Mitchell, the Chicago Mass Choir, Blind Boys of Alabama and Leonard Burks of GMWA fame. DFC has recorded with Beverly Crawford, Dorothy Norwood, Angela Spivey, Wanda Nero Butler and others. They are currently the only choir from the State of Alabama to have appeared on the Stellar Awards, gospel music’s premiere awards show. The Swiss promoters visited Birmingham to interview Dr. Yelder and other group members during the summer. They are noted as saying that DFC’s voices are what “the-superstar candidate can only dream of.”
They are holding a send-off event on Dec. 1 6:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, located at 600 Center St. Birmingham, AL. They will also be releasing their Christmas album, Joy for Christmas, at the event. There is no admission charge, but this event serves a benefit for expenses surrounding the tour.
